    AUBERGINE COTTAGE   30" x 30”   June 21, 2013

This painting achieved a slick, swift set of alternating grey and aubergine stripes that felt comforting, masculine and velour-like. This introverted painting breathed the notion of being indoors on a cozy rainy day.

Experimenting with juxtaposing two colors that are close but different—cousins more than siblings—excited me aesthetically. The grey shaded with aubergine, the aubergine shaded with grey—lived comfortably next to each other. Brush-stroke was absent here. I found the stripes' interplay enjoyably subtle, artful, beautiful—a repartée of whispers.
